Mi Home, a Xiaomi Company for Smart Home Appliances, launched a brand new product a few days ago: Mi Kettle. Mi Kettle is an electric kettle that can keep Constant Temperature.
Mi Kettle is the third product after Mi Home launched smart cooker and smart desktop lamp – Yeelight. Mi Kettle can boil water very fast and keep the water constant temperature etc. Mi Kettle is priced at $33, but is it worth $33?
Design & Appearance: White is simple and neat, but easily shows dirty.
Mi Kettle remains Xiaomi’s simplicity, it is designed in pure white and its chasiss is made of food class PP material. Most common-seen kettle features stainless steel chasiss. But Mi Kettle adds one more layer of plastic, and gets a layer of thermal insulation between inner tank and the chasiss. This is why it can keep the water at constant temperature and prevent users from harm of high temperature.
The top part of the chasiss shows a polished stainless steel decoration line, which makes it look not that dumb. We know white is easy to get in fit with every kind of home decoration, just that kettle is an appliance used very often in daily life, it easily shows dirty.
The cover of Mi Kettle will automatically slowly open to 45 degrees in case of water splashing, and then users can open it to 80 degrees manually.
The inner tank of Mi Kettle is made of 304 stainless steel and has a capacity of 1.5L. There is a thermal sensor at the bottom of the inner tank so that it can automatically turn off electricity when the water is boiled out at all or when there is no water in it.
There are two touch buttons at the handrail that turns on to boil and keeps the water at constant temperature respectively. It is said that Mi Kettle can precisely keep the water at a specific constant temperature for 12 hours, and this temperature can be changed through an App. In addition. the touch buttons are waterproof unlike those other mechanical buttons on other kettles.
One downside is the wire is too short. If the socket is far, it will require one more plug board.
Mi Kettle features a 1800W heatup circle that takes only 5 minutes to boil the water, claimed by Mi Home. And we have tested this out, it boils water very fast. The second downside is the noice is way strong during boiling.
APP: Constant Temperature is the highlighted feature.
As said above, Mi Kettle can be controlled through an App, this is the most important difference from othe kettles. User can set a temperature between 40 to 90 degrees, and set a time length up to 12 hours. User can even boil the water first, and then lower the temperature at whatever between 40 to 90 degrees and then keep it. This constant temperature feature can meet user demans for tea cooking, milk keeping and caffee etc. The third downside may be that it can be controlled to boil water through the App, user still need to touch the Boil button.
Mi Kettle seems expensive due to the pricing of $33, its expensivness lies in the constant temperature feature. It is up to the user to decide if it is worth $33.
