MEIZU has rushed to hold a new product launch conference on September 5th, 2016, just before Apple will launch iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on September 7th, 2016. MEIZU unveiled a new member from Blue Charm series, named MEIZU Max. MEIZU Max has topped the biggest MEIZU smartphone as of now, and its name has indicated it is to compete with Xiaomi Mi Max. Now we are going to unbox a piece of MEIZU Max.
MEIZU Max looks totally similar to the Blue Charm E launched not long ago, especially the back design looks exactly same. It features a new metallic finish that delivers a stronger feel of metal sturdiness. To be honest, the build quality is quite solid and sturdy.
MEIZU Max goes in Dark Grey, Golden, Silver and Pink, totally 4 colors.
The reasom MEIZU launches a new big smartphone is explained by Li Nan that MEIZU Max is for those youth users who just quit school and start working.
MEIZU Max has a size of 163.4×81.6×7.94 mm, weighs 189 grams. We will compare it with MEIZU MX6 below, so it will be easier for you to have a concept of the dimension.
The left is MEIZU Max, the right is MEIZU MX6. MEIZU Max is obviously bigger.
Though MEIZU Max has similar back cover as MEIZU Blue Charm E, yet it differs from MEIZU MX6 for the different back cover. And some Chinese people call it the different DNA between MEIZU series and Blue Charm series.
MEIZU Max features 6.0″ 1080pixel display with 2.5D glass panel. The advantage MEIZU Max has on the big screen over other big smartphones is the wider viewing display, so it is more fun to play games with MEIZU Max. The disadvantage is obviously the single hand operation, you can’t hold it easily with one hand.
“The future MEIZU series and Blue Charm series will all support mTouch button with fingerprint reader.”, said Li Nan. It is believed that mTouch has been very best in interactions and the accuracy is perfect.
The mTouch has now supported WeChat Pay and AliPay, and also encryption for some Apps.
MEIZU Max runs, finally, the latest Flyme 5.2 on top of Android 6.0. So no reason to complain it is laggy any more.
The notification center comes with dropdown mode in two parts, just to make full use of the screen display.
Note that MEIZU Max has gone with Single Hand Operation mode. Not just that. It has added a new feature like FindMyiPhone on iOS. You just bind your Flyme account, and then the system can send message, clear data, lock screen and even remotely shoot photos.
You would be happier that MEIZU Max has supported users to purchase Roam Data Program through Flyme outside China now, covering 60 countries and areas. This is not just convenient for Chinese to travel outside China, but also makes good to people outside China.
The rear camera on MEIZU Max is 13MP IMX258 from Sony, with F2.2.
The photography App is super simple with the must features left, such as Manual, Beautify, Panorama and GIF etc.
The front camera is 5MP and supports Beautify as well.
MEIZU Max powers MediaTek P10 Octa Core CPU coupled with 3GB Ram and 64GB. And it scores 48814 on Antutu. The 4100mAh battery support Quick Charge called mCharge. We tested the mCharge, it took 30 minutes to charge from 0% to 43%.
MEIZU Max takes dual 4G Nano Sim card and supports VoLTE. But it doesn’t feature USB Type-C, it still gets Micro USB.
The last thing you may concern is the pricing. MEIZU Max is priced at 1699 Yuan ($261), 300 Yuan ($46) lower than MEIZU MX6, but 400 Yuan ($61) higher than Blue Charm E. It will get on sale from 10:00 am on September 15, 2016.
